Wichita State faces its second-straight SEC foe when it travels to Tuscaloosa, as it comes off a 70-61 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers as 6.5-point home favorites last Saturday, while going UNDER the betting total of 133.5. The Shockers have their highest regular-season ranking since the 2006-07 season, which is important to consider when making your college basketball betting picks. Offensively, the team ranks 81st in the country in scoring 77.6 points per game, while sitting behind just 10 other teams in outscoring opponents by an average of 17.2 points. Wichita State is 3-2 SU and 2-2-1 ATS as road favorites of three or fewer points the last two-plus seasons.
The Shockers are 35-1 SU under head coach Gregg Marshall when scoring 80 or more points, but that number is going to be difficult to reach against the Crimson Tide. Since 2010-11, Wichita State has compiled a dominating 87-16 record when out-rebounding an opponent, which can’t be ignored when looking over the NCAA basketball lines. It’s important to point out that the program is outscoring opponents by less than a point on average in the opening 20 minutes, but holding a 13.7-point advantage in the second half.
Alabama continues its three-game homestand, as it comes off a 59-45 victory over Charleston Southern last Saturday. In their five home games this season, the Crimson Tide are outscoring opponents by an average of 21.6 points a game, as they’ve shot 49.1 percent from the floor and 37.6 percent from beyond the arc. The team has attempted 50 more free throws than its opponent thus far during the 2013-14 campaign. Alabama is 12-3-1 ATS in its last 16 opportunities as home underdogs of three or fewer points.
The Crimson Tide will need a major performance from senior guard Trevor Releford to pull off an upset, as he missed the last game with a hip injury, but is averaging 16.4 points in 32.9 minutes of action. Alabama currently ranks seventh in the SEC in field goal percentage at 46.9 percent, while on the other side—it leads the way in holding opponents to 27.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Sports bettors will likely back the Shockers due to their 7-0 ATS mark in their last seven road games.
