Philadelphia (-3) at Washington – The Eagles opened as 1 ½ point road favorites for their game against Washington but that’s been bet up to 3 at most sites. The Dream Team’s nightmare season has been well documented but they can still make a serious run at the playoffs. They need this game against a division rival, though. The Redskins have exceeded expectations all season long.
Detroit (-4) vs. San Francisco – The Lions started as 5 point favorites against San Francisco but that’s been pulled back to 4. Detroit is still undefeated, to the surprise of many, but most people figured the Lions had the talent to be good if they put it all together. The Niners have probably been an even bigger surprise. Jim Harbaugh is looking like the early favorite for coach of the year.
Atlanta (-4) vs. Carolina – The Falcons opened as 6 point favorites against Carolina but that’s been bet down to 4. Atlanta has been somewhat disappointing this season. They looked good for a quarter against Green Bay last week, and then fell apart. Carolina has looked considerably better this season, even though their win-loss record isn’t impressive. Cam Newton, however, has been dynamite.
Giants (-3) vs. Buffalo – The Giants opened as 3 point favorites against Buffalo and the line hasn’t moved. New York blew a game against Seattle last week, while Buffalo had another nice win. The Bills are looking like they want to hang around for a playoff spot. If they can steal a game in New York, that would certainly help their cause.
Baltimore (-8) vs. Houston – The Ravens started at -5 ½ but that’s been bet up to between 7 ½ and 9 points, depending upon the site. Baltimore is coming off a bye and should be ready and rested. Houston lost a close game to Oakland last week and is still without their All-Pro wide receiver, Andre Johnson. That is likely a big reason for sharp money coming in on the Ravens.
New England (-7) vs. Dallas – The Patriots and Cowboys are set to square off in an intriguing cross-conference game. The Pats opened as 7 point favorites, and while the line has wavered to both sides of 7, most sites are currently posting the opening number. New England has been tough again this year. Tom Brady is having another great season and the Pats running game has been surprisingly productive. Dallas seems to go as Tony Romo goes. Unfortunately for the Cowboys, that has resulted in a few crushing defeats. The anti-Romo faction amongst Cowboys fans seems to be growing week to week.
Jets (-7) vs. Miami – The New York Jets started as 8 point favorites against Miami for the Monday night game, but most books have brought that back to 8. Similar to the Cowboys, the Jets have suffered from inconsistent quarterback play. But the offense as a whole has played poorly; the running game has yet to get on track. Miami is still looking for its first win. Daniel Thomas has run well when healthy, but the absence of an effective quarterback will continue to plague this team. That is, perhaps, until they draft Andrew Luck …
