The Nebraska Cornhuskers are ranked No. 25 in AP Polls after its 35-21 Week 1 victory over South Alabama. Colorado won its week 1 game 52-31 over Colorado State. This week Colorado finds itself 3.5-point favorites over visiting Nebraska. The over/under is set at 64.5 points according to college football oddsmakers at 5dimes, and the game will kick off at 2:30 PM CST Saturday on FOX.

Colorado put its full offense on display in its 52-31 Week 1 win. Steven Montez threw for 232 yards on 13 of 20 passing with two touchdowns (no interceptions) and the Colorado offense rushed for 243 yards on 40 carries (6.1 yards per) as Alex Fontenot led the efforts with 125 yards on 19 carries and three touchdown rushes. Jaren Mangham contributed 40 more yards on 11 carries with a TD, and Montez had 39 yards on his five attempts. Laviska Shenault Jr rounded out the effort with three carries for 35 yards. Colorado’s top receiver was Tony Brown with three catches for 71 yards, while Shenault contributed another 48 yards of receiving on his three catches out of the backfield. Colorado completed just 13 passes but it averaged 17.8 yards-per-completion and had two receiving TDs (Jalen Harris catching the other).

Colorado’s pass defense was not good though. It gave up 374 yards on 31 of 47 passing with three TDs, slightly redeemed by picking off two passes. It did a better job with the Colorado State rushers but gave up 131 total yards on 31 carries and 4.2 yards-per-attempt. Overall, the Buffaloes were fairly exposed defensively, and those errors could be more fully exploited by Nebraska. The Cornhuskers did only rush for 98 yards against South Alabama, though. And it had just 178 passing yards with an interception thrown by Adrian Martinez.

Nebraska ultimately still won 35-21, but if not for Dedrick Mills’ two touchdowns it might not have gone that way. The Cornhuskers generated just 8.1 yards-per-ass and failed to reach the end zone via the air. Mills two TDs were the only offensive touchdowns of the game for the Cornhuskers, outside of  Spielman returning a punt for TD. Nebraska got a big pick-6 by Eric Lee Jr.

Dylan Jorgensen hit all five PATs, but he did not attempt a field goal.

Nebraska got 66 yards on three catches from Jack Stoll, two catches for 36 yards from JD Spielman, and another 33 yards on three catches from Wan’Dale Robinson. Stoll had a 42-yard catch in the game, and Nebraska did average 13.7 yards-per-attempt, but it will have to increase its long looks in Week 2.
