The Panthers last knocked off the Dallas Cowboys by a count of 33-14. The team has not had a close call in its past three games, winning all by at least 17 points, and averaging 33.5 points per game over the span.
In the win over the Cowboys Cam Newton threw for 183 yards while rushing for an additional 45 on 12 attempts. RB Jonathan Stewart had 68 yards on 21 catches, but Carolina managed just one rushing TD (from Newton) and did not have any receiving TDs. Jerricho Cotchery caught five passes for 73 yards and TE Greg Olson had five catches on nine targeted passes for 70 yards.
Newton has had just a fantastic season and has finally blossomed as he was expected to. He has thrown for 2,466 yards on the season with 20 TD passes and nine INTs while also ranking second on the team in rushing yard with 427. He leads Carolina in rushing TDs with seven, though he has fumbled three times and two were lost. His 38 first down rushes rank first on the team, even with Stewart having a good year.

Stewart averages just 3.9 yards per carry but has been a workhorse with 211 attempts on the year. Olson leads the team in catches and yardage (53 for 788 yards). He also has caught six of the Panthers 20 receiving TDs this year.
The Saints are 4-7 on the season and have now lost three straight (to New York Giants, Washington Redskins and Houston Texans). Last week in the 24-6 loss to the Texans, Drew Brees threw 25 of 44 for 228 yards but had no touchdowns while throwing an INT and being sacked twice for a loss of 10 yards. His passer rating was just 15.5. Mark Ingram had the only success rushing the ball for New Orleans, getting 52 yards on nine carries. The Saints had just 10 rush attempts. Benjamin Watson and Willie Snead (out this week) had 103 yards combined on eight catches. Kai Forbath hit 2 of 2 FGs including a 57-yarder for New Orleans’ only two scores.
Brees has 3,200 yards on the season at a 68.1 percent clip. He has thrown 10 INTs though and been sacked 25 times. Top target Brandin Cooks has 736 yards on 55 receptions, but not having Snead this week will hurt. Snead ranks No. 2 in yardage and has three TDs on the year. Watson should be able to step up adequately as the No. 3 option usually, and he has 604 yards on the year. Amazingly, Watson has caught 50 of 58 targeted passes and is tied for second on the team in first downs gained (29).
