The Minnesota Vikings experienced success-at-last on Nov 17 as it ended its four-game losing streak with a 34-27 victory over Washington, but squaring off against a tough Seattle Seahawks team is expected to return the team to its losing ways.
NFL oddsmakers at Bovada find the home team Seahawks to be 13-point favorites over a 2-7 Vikings team that has one of the league’s poorer offenses paired with a horrible pass defense.
Russell Wilson should have no problem exploiting the Vikings secondary, which has allowed 285.7 passing yards per game. Wilson has 2,132 yards on the season at a 63.4 percent clip and he’s thrown 17 touchdowns to just six interceptions. Adding to that, Wilson has rushed for 395 yards on the season to supplement the great backfield effort of Marshawn Lynch, who has rushed for 871 yards on the season and scored seven rushing TDs.
The 9-1 Seahawks rank 1st in the NFL in rushing yardage with 153.4 per game, and the Seahawks boast almost unarguably the league’s best defense, one which allows just 289 yards per game.
The Vikings temporarily looked good at QB last week when it returned to Christian Ponder and he threw 17-of-21 before injuring his shoulder. Its uncertain as to whether Ponder will start, or Matt Cassel; or even Josh Freeman. The Seahawks “D” is tough on both the line and the secondary, though, so it will be tough for any of the three to do much damage. Expect Adrian Peterson to see plenty of carries, and the back has 786 yards on the season with an average carry of 4.5 yards.
Minnesota Trends: OVER 4-0 in last 4 following ATS win; 4-1 ATS in last 5 vs teams with winning home records; OVER 4-1 in last 5 after allowing more than 350 total yards in previous game.
Seattle Trends: 8-0-1 ATS in last 9 after accumulating more than 250 passing yards in previous game; OVER 6-1 in last 7 after allowing less than 250 total passing yards; OVER 5-1 in last 6 following SU win of more than 14 points.
