The Dallas Cowboys have not won two straight games since Week 3 while the Buffalo Bills have not dropped two in a row all season. Something will have to give on Sunday when the Cowboys (4-4) host the Bills (5-3) in the first meeting since a crazy 25-24 road victory for Dallas in 2007.
Buffalo led that game 24-16 with less than a minute remaining but saw Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo rally his team by throwing a touchdown pass with 20 seconds left. Dallas (-5.5, O/U 48) then recovered an onside kick and converted a 53-yard field goal to win the game. Romo did turn the ball over six times though, including five interceptions. He has thrown just one pick in the last three games this season though in leading his team to a 2-1 mark during that stretch.
Romo had thrown six interceptions in the first five games, including three in a 34-30 home loss to Detroit in Week 4. Two of those picks were returned for touchdowns, and the same thing happened the last time he faced the Bills. He will be without one of his top targets in this game, as wide receiver Miles Austin will miss up to a month with a hamstring injury.
Buffalo will be playing the first of three consecutive road games against the Cowboys and struggled offensively in a 27-11 home loss to the New York Jets last week. The Bills failed to score 20 points for the first time this season and saw their QB Ryan Fitzpatrick throw two interceptions, bringing his total to six in the past four games.
While each of these teams has a QB who has been hot and cold through the air, the running backs could decide this one on the ground. Buffalo’s Fred Jackson is the AFC’s leading rusher with 100.4 yards per game while Dallas features the top rookie in DeMarco Murray, who has totaled 392 yards in the two home games he has started.
The Cowboys have failed to cover the spread in their last two games, and the UNDER has cashed in each of their past four after going 3-1 to start the season. The Bills have seen the total go UNDER in their last two games after going OVER in their first six games of the year. The UNDER is also 4-1 in the past five meetings, including a 30-13 Dallas win in Super Bowl XXVIII.
