UTSA has split its first two games of the season, as it looks to bounce back from a 26-23 defeat to the Arizona Wildcats as 7.5-point home underdogs on last Thursday, while going UNDER the betting total in each contest. Roadrunners head coach Larry Coker has a national-leading 37 seniors on his roster, which can’t be ignored when making your Week 3 college football predictions, while he also has the luxury of 21 returning starters from a season ago. UTSA is 9-4 SU and 10-2 ATS on the road since the start of the 2012 campaign.
The Roadrunners have been pleased by the play of senior quarterback Tucker Carter, who has completed 37-of-57 passes for 349 yards and a score in his first go around as a starter. UTSA welcomed back 91.9 percent of its receptions from a season ago, with its signal-callers completing a pass to 11 different targets in the early going this year. The team’s offensive line is a major strength, especially with senior center Nate Leonard expected to start his 37th consecutive game.
Oklahoma State also enters with a 1-1 record, as it registered a 40-23 victory over Missouri State last Saturday, which was a nice bounce back after dropping a 37-31 decision to the defending national champion Florida State Seminoles in the season opener on Aug. 30. The Cowboys rank 74th in the country in averaging 422 yards per game, which is important to consider when looking over the college football odds, but starting quarterback J.W. Walsh is doubtful with a foot injury. Oklahoma State is 12-2 SU and 10-4 ATS at home since 2012.
The Cowboys have compiled a 21-1 SU record against non-conference opponents at Boone Pickens Stadium during the Mike Gundy era, while it has captured 14 of 15 meetings in Stillwater versus teams that currently play in Conference USA. Walsh was an important piece of the puzzle in the program’s 56-35 road victory over UTSA last season, as he completed 24-of-27 passes for 326 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions.
Sports bettors will likely play the total, as the UNDER is 6-0 in the Roadrunners’ last six overall games.
