UCF
UCF lost 21-16 to Missouri last week. They got within three yards of making that loss a win. After scoring on an 11 yard TD pass to Quincy McDuffie, several drives later, the Knights drove the ball from their own 12 to within the Tigers’ 10 with two mins to play in the half. A pass interference gave the Knights a first and goal from the 3 yard line, but after two failed plays, Blake Bortles was sacked and the Knights were unable to get a field goal off, as time expired.
It was a still a good night for Bortles, who completed 12 straight passes and was 18 of 22 for 156 yards at one point in the game. He finished with 267 yards on 29 of 43 passing with two TDs and no interceptions. Runningback Storm Johnson also had a big game, rushing for a season high 93 yards on 15 carries. He had 78 the week prior against Florida International.
The loss brought the Knights to 2-2 on the season.
Knights Betting Trends:
Knights are 37-15-1 ATS in their last 53 after allowing less than 100 rushing the previous game, and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 following an SU loss. They are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 after scoring less than 20 the previous game.
EAST CAROLINA
The Pirates of East Carolina already have played two C-USA games and won both of them. They sit at 3-2, with wins over Appalachian State, Southern Miss, and UTEP, and their two losses came to then No. 9 South Carolina and UNC.
Last week, they handled UTEP, winning by 10 as Shane Carden ran for two TDs and threw for one TD. He still threw three interceptions, though, putting a black mark on an otherwise good game for the Pirates. He finished 28 of 40 for 258 yards.
Freshman RB Vintavious Cooper ran for 151 yards on 23 carries with a TD. It was his best output of the season and more than he had in the previous four games combined. If he can do anything of that nature against UCF this week, the Pirates could pull a nice upset.
Pirates Betting Trends:
Pirates are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 C-USA games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 after accumulating 200+ rushing yards in the previous game. They are 15-7 ATS in their last 22 in October and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 following an SU win.
