1. How in the world does anyone lose to Washington right now? Denver should be ashamed. It’s a sign of just how good Kyle Orton has been this year – the team self-destructed when he was hurt and the terrible Chris Simms had to take over.
2. We saw Chad Hene mature before our eyes today. He threw an absolutely brutal interception to let Tampa Bay take the lead with 74 seconds left. Henne could have panicked, but instead he took his team 77 yards down the field in a minute to set up the winning field goal. Henne’s a keeper.
3. Buffalo needs to fire everyone and start over. They looked solid on the road at Tennessee through three quarters, and then they just quit. Tennessee scored 24 unanswered fourth quarter points, including two interception returns for TDs when the receivers put in half-efforts. Brutal.
4. How can two teams with the offensive potential that the Cowboys and Packers have play a game as boring as that one?
5. The Saints are incredibly lucky. As hard as it is to believe they got outplayed in a lot of ways by the Rams, yet they somehow managed to escape with a win. They seem to only care about the second half, and they won’t get away with that forever if they aren’t careful.
6. Why can’t the Eagles play on the west coast?
7. I can’t believe how calm and effective Brett Favre continues to be. Is it possible that he is playing his best football at 40? He completed almost 70 percent of his passes for 344 yards and a TD, and he never looked anything other than entirely in control. I’ll admit that I was wrong – very wrong – about his prospects this year.
8. What’s wrong with Matt Ryan? I don’t know if this is just the sophomore slump or something else, but Ryan just isn’t playing very good football right now. The injury to Michael Turner won’t help the situation any if it is serious.
9. I hate it, but I admit it – the Bengals are legitimate. They could be a major factor in what could be a very tough AFC playoff run.
10. Jacksonville’s win today – a nice one – could be costly for me. I find it very easy to be seduced by this Jaguar team, but every time I get convinced that they are poised for big things they come back with a major disappointment and burn my cash.
