While the Houston Texans (1-0) are coming off an impressive 34-24 home win over Indianapolis last Sunday, one could argue this meeting with the Washington Redskins (1-0) on the road could be a better indictor of how just how could the team really is. The Texans enter this game as small road favorites at -2.5/3 depending where you check your NFL spreads, but need to prove themselves here in this spot or else last week’s victory will not mean nearly as much.
The Houston Texans are coming off maybe the biggest win in their organization’s history, a 34-24 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Arian Foster exploded for a career game, Matt Schaub didn’t have to work too hard, and the defense kept the Colts at bay.
The biggest injury news of the week is that the Green Bay Packers will be without running back Ryan Grant. He is out for the season with an ankle injury. The news had little impact on the NFL spreads. The Packers opened a 14-point favorite and it has gone down to 13. How much this effects the Packers will remain to be seen. The Packers are a pass-first team, but Grant was the go-to guy in the backfield, especially when the weather got bad later in the season. Brandon Jackson had 63 yards on 18 carries as Grant’s replacement last week, and may be able to fill the void. Here is a look at some of the significant injuries from the NFL injury report for week 2.
The Dallas Cowboys will have upgraded expectations this season following their first playoff win in 13 years as they begin defense of their NFC East division title on the road against the Washington Redskins. The same can be said for the Redskins with new head coach Mike Shanahan and new quarterback Donovan McNabb ready to lead them back to the playoffs.
