Angels starter Jered Weaver has managed just two victories at home while ranking second in the majors in strikeouts.

Texas Rangers at Los Angeles Angels

Texas has the second-best record in the majors and handicappers better start paying attention.  The Rangers enjoyed an outstanding June, posting the most wins and best record in the majors.  Part of this success must be attributed to the play of outfielder Josh Hamilton.  He came into Wednesday night’s contest hitting safely in a career-best 22 straight games and hitting .462 with nine home runs and 29 RBI over that span.  Those numbers have led to Hamilton batting an MLB-best .457 in June.  The Rangers have held their own against the Angels, posting wins in 13 of their last 22 games before the series started.  The Rangers are 13-6 against the AL West (+710), but have played just seven games on the road (4-3).

The Rangers are marked as a home underdog on Saturday afternoon, as they host the best team in Major League Baseball.

Tampa Bay Rays at Texas Rangers

Tampa Bay is currently 2-2 on its current road trip after dropping the series opener at Texas, 9-6, at the Ballpark in Arlington.  Friday night’s defeat dropped the team to 26-3 on the year when producing five or more runs at the plate.  The Rays are still a dominating 21-7 on the road (+1,400), as only six major league teams have had a better road record after 28 games since 1900.  The team has outscored opponents 166-89 away from Tropicana Field.  Tampa is now 2-1 this month, but has compiled an impressive 37-18 record over the last three years during June (+1,790).  Total bettors need to be aware that the pitching staff has allowed only 198 runs this season, the fewest in the American League (25-28 O/U).

The Twins seek to finish off a three-game sweep of the Rangers on national television.

Texas Rangers at Minnesota Twins

Texas has lost three straight games and five of six, as they continue an eight-game, 10-day road trip.  The Rangers are batting .220 and have managed to score just six runs during its current three-game skid.  Despite the recent struggles, the team is still a solid 15-11 this month (+220) and a fantastic 54-30 in May the past three years ($2,730).  Texas has also had a difficult time this season when facing opponents with a winning record, tallying a 4-11 record (-920) this season.  The Rangers have lost eight of their last nine on the road, currently sitting at 8-14 away from Arlington this season overall.

1. There’s an article today on ESPN that suggests that Notre Dame is going to go 11-1 and return to the BCS this year. Apparently they aren’t kidding, either. I’m not sure I have ever read anything more stupid. They are returning a bunch of players and all, but it’s not like they are returning BCS caliber players or anything. Experienced garbage is still garbage. Eight or nine wins is believable, but 11 is a joke – even against the puffball schedule they have given themselves this year.
