Some pundits think the Warriors are undervalued and could be a surprise but I am not buying it, still looks like they are 1 year away
For the Golden State Warriors (26-56) last season was pretty much what was expected—a losing record, a fourth place Pacific Division finish and a 12thplace Western Conference ranking. No postseason for this team. This season, fans will see an entirely new team. The reason has less to do with some grand scheme and more to do with having messed up the grand scheme a few years ago. Facing a major salary cap dilemma, the Warriors got rid of just about an entire roster in the off-season, trading Jackson, Maggette, Randolph, Turiaf, Azubuike, Watson and Morrow. Memphis Grizzlies Season Preview & Predictions

We would be shocked to see Randolph put up the same type of numbers this season
In 2009-2010, the Memphis Grizzlies (40-42) ended the season fourth in the Southwest Division and ninth in the Western Conference. For most teams a sub-500 season would be considered a failure, but the Grizzlies considered it a success. This season should be worse for what is one of the worst managed franchises in the NBA.

Miami Heat Season Preview & Predictions

With the addition of James and Bosh the Heat are the favorites to win the NBA title
Last season the Miami Heat (47-35) finished fifth in the East. In the postseason, the Boston Celtics eliminated them in five games of round one. That poor performance plus their thin starting lineup made Miami go back to the drawing board where they definitely redrew the team in the image of superstar LeBron James (.503 FG%, .333 3PT%, .767 FT%, 7.3 RPG, 8.6 APG, 29.7 PPG). James, who could not bring a championship to Cleveland, will now try to do so in Miami.

Boston Celtics Season Preview & Predictions

Celtics should once again win their division but getting to the finals having to likely go through Orlando and Miami is going to be a tough task
The Boston Celtics (50-32) were first in the Atlantic Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference last season. In 2009-2010, this team proved to be an enigma. They had a great start, looking like World Champions, and then barely made it through the final 54 games of the season. Then they somehow managed to beat some dynamic teams to win the Eastern Conference and go to the NBA Finals. They did lose in the finals to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Mikhail Prokhorov will have the Nets contending for titles in the future but this season should be another downer
Last season was one to forget for the New Jersey Nets (12-70) as they set a new league record by losing their first dozen-and-a-half games. Their defense was bad and their offense was worse. The good news, and there is some, is that the team has made some changes, which means this season should be better than last. You have to wonder if it could possibly get any worse?

But Philly has something going for it—talented youth. And this season that youth may just make a difference in the City of Brotherly Love.

According to our power ratings the Toronto Raptors are the worst team in the East
Which team is the worst in the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference?  It looks like this year it’s the Toronto Raptors (40-42). Last season ended with some hope as the Raptors finished second in the Atlantic and missed the final spot in the playoffs by one game. But that was last year. In 2010-2011, there’s less about which to be optimistic. The major reason for this has to do with the Raptors’ loss of Chris Bosh who has gone to the Miami Heat, helping to make them the best team in the conference.

The Pistons are likely to be improved but dont think they improve enough to make the playoffs
It was not that long ago that the Detroit Pistons (25-57) were contenders. Now they’re one of the worst teams in the NBA. Last season they couldn’t score and they could not stop teams from scoring, which basically meant that they won just 30% of their games. It didn’t help that some of their top players spent a lot of time healing from injuries. This season, they may be a bit better, but the question is how much better?
