St. Louis is searching to win three straight games for the first time in four years taking on the Lions after going 1-15 last season.  “If we continue on the track we’re on and we continue to improve each week, I think we can definitely compete for this division,” rookie quarterback Sam Bradford said.  Both of the Rams previous wins have come at Edward Jones Dome and will now look to win on the road after benefiting from playing three of their first four games in St. Louis.  After being outscored 701-280 in the second half over their their last 50 games, the squad outscored the Redskins and Seahawks by a 26-3 margin over the last two weeks.  St. Louis is 3-1 ATS as an underdog this season and the total is 1-3 O/U in those games.

The bigger the gap between the real impact and the perceived impact, the more value there potentially is to be had.

2nd year quarterback Mark Sanchez
NFL handicappers may overvalue just how much Mark Sanchez improves in his 2nd year
Many young players tend to have a disappointing second season in what is known as a ‘sophomore slump’, while others show improvement. So how did our rookie quarterbacks do last season, and more importantly for NFL handicappers, how will they fare this season?

There was a lot of good sports action yesterday. Here’s a look at the biggest stories to come out of the day:

1. Detroit has a long, long, long way to go. There were a couple of good things going on in their game against Green Bay, but not many. Matthew Stafford looks like a deer in the headlights, and I can’t imagine that getting chased around the field before throwing yet another interception is helping him become a better quarterback. I’m not writing the guy off yet, but this isn’t positive.
