The Oregon Ducks are starting to look eerily similar to last year’s team that steamrolled through the season, en route to a national championship invitation. The Ducks ran into the buzz-saw that was Cam Newton’s Auburn Tigers and lost a close, hard fought game. And like the game against Auburn, Oregon faced LSU to begin the season, only to fall just short against a top tier SEC team.

The Kansas City Chiefs emerged as the NFL’s top success story for 2010. Following a 4-12 campaign in 2009, the Chiefs rebounded with a 10-6 mark last season, good enough to win the AFC West division.
The Oregon Ducks have to be angry. They basically gave LSU the ball(game) last week. That loss alone might be enough to derail any national championship plans. They can still make the BCS title game, but to do so they basically need to run roughshod over the remainder of their schedule. For Oregon, the rest of the season begins this Saturday afternoon when they welcome the Nevada Wolf Pack to Eugene.
Like nearly every year, the Notre Dame Fightin’ Irish is supposed to return to prominence this season. I’ll believe it when I see it. The Irish opened as 11½ point favorites, but that line has come down to 11 or 10 ½ despite the fact that the public is trending Notre Dame’s way at about 70%. When the public is leaning one way and the line moves opposite, the wiseguys are the likely culprit. The sharps seem to be lining their weekly college football picks up behind the Bulls.
The Cleveland Browns have been playing as well as any team in the NFL over the past month. They look to continue their good play when they travel to Jacksonville, Florida to take on the Jaguars. The Jags started as 3 point home favorites, but the wiseguys have pulled that down. Some sites are now posting the game as a pick, but most have the Jags as a 1 or 1 ½ point favorite. Consider following the sharps in this game. The Browns have been competing against stiff competition, while the Jags have been painfully inconsistent.
The Maryland Terrapins host the Florida State Seminoles in a game that has great significance in the ACC Atlantic division. Florida State is 5-2 in conference play, while both Maryland and NC State are 4-2; all three teams are 7-3 overall. Since the Seminoles lost a Thursday night game to the Wolf Pack, they can’t afford a loss here. But neither can Maryland. Even if they go on to beat NC State, not having the tie breaker with FSU would spell doom for the Terrapins.
It’s hard to not feel bad for the Buffalo Bills. They’ve played much better in recent weeks. They took Baltimore and Kansas City to overtime before losing, and last week they lost to Chicago by a field goal. They’re hoping to get into the win column this week as they host the Detroit Lions.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are still playing for a BCS bowl, and maybe another trip to Pasadena. They host the Penn State Nittany Lions this Saturday afternoon in the Horseshoe in the hopes of keeping those dreams alive.

The Philadelphia Eagles host the Indianapolis Colts in an intriguing cross conference battle. Both teams are poised to make the playoffs, but each could use a win.
The Maryland Terrapins are right in the thick of the ACC Atlantic race. Along with NC State and Florida State, the Terrapins have only 1 loss in conference play and currently sit at 6-2 for the season. They have a difficult road test this Saturday afternoon when they take on the Hurricanes in Miami.
