In an earlier article I discussed some of the team props for Super Bowl XLVII. Let’s take a look at some of the player props for the game. All odds are courtesy of Bovada.
Total Passing Yards by Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco Over 250 1/2 (-135) vs under (+105)
Flacco has struggled at times during the regular season, but for some reason he is fantastic in the post season. The 49ers gave up a lot of yards to Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan. I think Flacco can get to them as well, especially if the ravens get down early.
Total Touchdown passes by Joe Flacco Over 1 1/2 (-150) vs under (+120)
Flacco threw 3 touchdown passes against the Broncos and Patriots and should be able to throw at least 2 against the 49ers.
Total Interceptions by Flacco Over 1/2 (-170) vs under (+140)
Flacco hasn’t thrown an interception in his last 5 games dating back to the regular season. The 49ers have forced at least an interception in the last 5 games. Still, I think under is worth a play at +140
Total rushing yards by Ray Rice (RB, Ravens) over 67 1/2 (-125) vs under (-105)
Rice had a huge game in the Raven’s double overtime win against Broncos with 131 rushing yards. However, he was pretty much contained against the Colts and patriots. The 49ers have one of the best rush defenses in the league. The Ravens’ offense has begun to focus more on Flacco and the passing game. plus, back-up Bernard Pierce has been getting more carries recently and has been effective. I like the under here.
Total Receptions by Anquan Bolden (WR, Ravens) over 5 (-110) vs under (-120)
Bolden has at least 5 catches in his last 4 games. I think he will get at least that many in the Super Bowl.
Will Bolden Score a Touchdown in the game? Yes (+130) vs No (-160)
Bolden has become Flacco’s top red zone target. I think he scores at least one touchdown, and yes is worth a play at plus money.
Total tackles and assists by Ray Lewis (LB, Ravens) over 11 1/2 (-135) vs under (+105)
It has been well documented that Lewis will end his hall-of fame career after Sunday’s game. Lewis has been incredible since coming back for the playoffs from a torn triceps suffered in October. He has also faced allegations of PED use this week, which he has denied. I think Lewis has a huge game I like the over.
Total Passing Yards Colin Kaepernick (QB, 49ers) over 232 1/2 (-125) vs under (-105)
Kaepernick has thrown for at least 221 yards in his last 5 starts. I think he has a relatively big day. I like the over on this prop.
Total Rushing Yards by Kaepernick over 50 1/2 (-115) vs under (-115)
A week after shredding the Packers for 181 yards and 2 touchdowns, Kaepernick only had 21 rushing yards against the Falcons in the NFC Championship game. This was because Atlanta focused on stopping the read-option pistol offense. I see Baltimore employing a similar strategy. I like the under.
Total Rushing Yards by Frank Gore (RB, 49ers) over 82 1/2 (-130) vs under (even)
With back-up Kendall Hunter out for the season, Gore and Kaepernick are the only two rushing threats for the 49ers. LaMichael James will get a few carries. Still I like Gore to have over 82.5 yards.
Will Vernon Davis (TE, 49ers) catch a touchdown pass? Yes (+145) vs No (-175)
Davis has been kind of hit and miss since Kaepernick took over as quarterback. He had a huge game against the Falcons with 5 catches for 106 yards, and a touchdown. I think he will be a big part of the game plan against the Ravens. I think Davis catching a touchdown pass is worth a play.
Who will have more passing yards? Flacco -19 1/2 (-115) vs Kaepernick (-115)
If the Ravens make Kaepernick beat them with his arm, then both quarterbacks could pass for over 250 or maybe even 300 yards. I think Kaepernick can stay withing 19 yards of Flacco.
Who will have more rushing yards? Rice -12 1/2 (-105) vs Gore (-125)
I love Gore in this match-up. Rice has become more of an after thought in the Raven’s offense as they have focused more on the passing game. Gore is still focal point and should outrush Rice outright.
How many times will Jack Harbaugh be shown on television from kickoff to final whistle? Over 2 1/2 (-200) vs under (+160)
Yes, you have to lay -200 but over 2 1/2 is the easiest play on the board. With both his sons coaching in the game, every time a team scores a touchdown or commits a turnover, CBS cameras will show the nervous yet proud father. If the game is close late in the fourth, CBS will probably show him after every big play.
How many times will the word ‘Harbaugh’ be mentioned on air from kickoff to final whistle? over 23 1/2 (-150) vs under (+120)
Another seemingly easy play, but be careful. Announcers might just say Jim and John to distinguish the two apart. When the Mannings play against each other, announcers usually call them Peyton and Eli rather than just Manning. the same thing happens when Venus and Serena Williams play tennis against each other. I like the under in a mild upset.
Those are some of the team props we like. enjoy the game, and I hope it is profitable for you.
OUr NFL handicappers are red hot. Don’t miss out on any more winners next season.
