South Carolina is set to end its regular season in the Palmetto State Showdown, as it attempts to push its winning streak to four games in this series, which includes a 34-13 win as 3.5-point home favorites last year. The Gamecocks won the statistical battle by an overwhelming 420-153 margin in that affair. “They don’t like us very much and we don’t care for them,” stated Gamecocks running back Kenny Miles. South Carolina is 7-4 this season, with the OVER going 7-3-1 in those contests.
The Gamecocks have won 20 of their last 24 games, and this year’s senior class has a school-record 36 victories over the last four seasons. For the seventh time in the last eight years in this rivalry game, at lease one of the teams comes into the game ranked. South Carolina has prevailed in three of the previous four matchups when both entered as a member of the AP Top 25 poll. Head coach Steve Spurrier has split his 10 meetings with Clemson, which includes a 4-3 mark during his time in Columbia.
Clemson is certainly one of the hottest teams in college football, coming away with a victory in seven consecutive games, including a 62-48 win over the NC State Wolfpack as 15-point home favorites last week. “I don’t know how you can add any more juice to this game,” stated Tigers coach Dabo Swinney. The Tigers will try to avoid losing four straight games in this series for just the second time since 1896. Clemson is 2-0 ATS as a favorite of 3.5 to 10 points this season, which is an important betting trend to consider when making your college football picks against the spread on Saturday.
The Tigers have scored 491 points on the season, which is 21 more than last year’s total. Clemson has been explosive in the second quarter during the 2012 campaign, putting up 191 points, which is the most in school history in one quarter. Offensively, the team ranks fourth nationally in scoring 44.6 points per game, but will be facing a defensive unit that has held opponents to 17.5 points per game.
Sports bettors will likely play the underdog in this affair, as the Gamecocks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in this series.
