Cowboys Saints NFL Preview
The New Orleans Saints are 2-3 ATS as road favorites of 3.5 to 7 points since 2011

New Orleans has won four of its last five games, including a 31-13 victory over the Carolina Panthers as three-point home favorites in Week 14, while going UNDER the betting total for a fourth consecutive contest.  The Saints can land a spot in the NFC playoffs with a victory, which is important to consider when making your pro football picks.  Offensively, the team is averaging 32.9 points per game at home, but just 18.8 on the road.  New Orleans is 3-2 SU and 2-3 ATS as road favorites of 3.5 to 7 points the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 3-2 in that situation.

The Saints need quarterback Drew Brees to perform at a higher level on the road, as he’s thrown five of his eight interceptions in that situation, while compiling a pedestrian 87.7 rating.  On the defensive end, New Orleans has tallied a conference-leading 43 sacks—a number that can get much higher when facing a team that’s allowed quarterback Kellen Clemens to go down 18 times since replacing Sam Bradford in the lineup.

St. Louis returns home after dropping a pair of road games, including a 30-10 defeat to the Arizona Cardinals as 4.5-point underdogs Sunday, while losing the statistical battle for a fourth consecutive contest.  The Rams have been getting tremendous production out of running back Zac Stacy, who has gained 721 rushing yards on 174 carries, while tight end Jared Cook is the main option in the passing game with 43 receptions for 606 yards.  St. Louis is 1-4 SU and 1-3-1 ATS as home underdogs of 3.5 to 7 points, with the OVER going 3-1-1 in that situation.

The Rams have been eliminated from postseason contention, but the roster is motivated to finish the season off in a positive way, especially on the defense end with rookie linebacker Alec Ogletree.  “Each week he does something that surprises you,” commented Rams head coach Jeff Fisher.  St. Louis has covered the number in four of the last five meetings in this series, with the OVER going 3-2 in that span.

Sports bettors will likely play the total, as the UNDER is 4-0 in the Saints’ last four games versus conference foes.
