Los Angeles continues a six-game road trip and will look to bounce back from a 99-92 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers as seven-point road favorites. The Clippers have won two of the first three games since leaving Southern California and has gone “under” the total in three of their last four games. “We came out with a lack of energy,” commented Clippers forward Blake Griffin. “That’s on us. We had no urgency.” The team is now 5-5 on the road this season, including a 2-1 mark versus Eastern Conference opponents. Los Angeles is 1-4 ATS as a road underdog of 3.5 to 6 points this season.
The Clippers have dropped the last two meetings in this series, while also failing to cover the spread, including a 105-91 loss in their last trip inside the Wells Fargo Center on Dec. 15, 2010. Griffin hasn’t enjoyed much success in this series, shooting just 32.1 percent by going a combined 9-of-28 from the floor in two games. Point guard Chris Paul owns a 6-4 record against the 76ers, averaging 15.9 points and 8.5 assists per game.
Philadelphia certainly suffered a letdown after handing the Los Angeles Lakers as 95-90 defeat on Monday night, dropping a 100-90 contest to the San Antonio Spurs just two days later as 3.5-point home favorites. The 76ers allowed an opponent to reach the century mark in scoring for the first time in 10 games, but the defense still ranks among the league leaders in giving up just 87.2 points per game. Philadelphia is 15-5 ATS as a favorite this year and the “under” is 13-7 in those contests.
The 76ers are a fantastic 13-4 at home overall, but have split their four meetings against Western Conference opponents in the City of Brotherly Love. Philadelphia has swept three of the past four season series with Los Angeles, scoring 100 or more points in four of the past five meetings. Former UCLA Bruins point guard Jrue Holiday is certainly a player to watch on the floor, averaging 22.0 points and 7.0 assists versus the Clippers last year. The squad will look to avoid dropping back-to-back games for the first time during the 2011-12 campaign.
Bettors will likely back the 76ers due to their 8-0 ATS mark following a straight-up loss, while the Clippers are 1-6 ATS as a road underdog.
