No. 18 UCLA is 7-2 on the season and 4-2 in Pac-12 play, and the Bruins will find itself 6-point favorites against a 6-3 Washington team this week.
The Bruins have been very strong offensively this season, but are not faring too well defensively. UCLA has averaged 33.7 points per game this season on the strength of a 29th ranked rush offense and 35th ranked pass game. The Bruins average 490 total yards per game this season.
Last week against No. 12 Arizona, UCLA scored just 17, but somehow the defense dug deep to allow the Wildcats to score just seven points. Arizona converted just 6-of-20 third downs against the Bruins. UCLA hadn’t had held a team under two TDs any game this season, and it’s expecting a bit much to see the Bruins shut down Washington like that.
UCLA QB Brett Hundley has been sensational with a 156.5 passer rating on the season while boasting a 71 percent completion ratio and a 15/4 TD/INT ratio. Hundley has also rushed for 546 yards on the season with five TDs and a 4.3 yard per carry average. His top receiving target, Jordan Payton, has been nothing short of amazing with 783 yards and seven TDs on the season.
UCLA has four WRs with 300 yards or more this season (Devin Fuller is close enough at 299), and its top running back Paul Perkins is over 1,000 yards on the season with six TDs. The Bruins have equal TD totals with 17 via the pass and 17 via the rush.
The Washington Huskies have lost three of its last five contests, though the Huskies were victorious last week against Colorado, winning 38-23. Cyler Miles threw 13-of-19 for completion and had 206 yards, and though the Huskies had less total yards than Colorado, the team won. This, also, despite converting just 2-of-11 on third down.
Junior RB Shaq Thompson broke out for 174 yards, including a 56-yard run, and he scored a TD as well, while also receiving 41 yards on two catches.
Washington has a plus-6.4 point differential this season, and the Huskies face another ranked opponent next week in No. 19 Arizona, before closing the season against Oregon State and Washington State.
