Oregon carries its perfect record into the Thomas & Mack Center this weekend, as head coach Dan Altman’s squad has five letterwinners and two starters that returned from a season ago. The Ducks are coming off a 67-45 blowout win over Jacksonville State as 13.5-point home favorites, but they’ve still had problems in turning the ball over. “We didn’t do a very good job of handling the ball,” stated Altman after the game. The program was 7-5 on the road last year and dropped both games it played on a neutral floor. Oregon is 24-14 ATS as an underdog over the last two-plus seasons, which is a betting trend to consider when making your college basketball picks against the spread on Friday.
The Ducks have been very happy with the production of center Tony Woods, who scored a career-high 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting last time out. He is one of two players averaging over 12 points per game, as he ranks just behind team-leader E.J. Singler in that category.
UNLV has had five players in double figures in the scoring column in opening the 2012-13 campaign with a pair of victories, with freshman forward Anthony Bennett leading the way in averaging 17.0 points per game. The Runnin’ Rebels are looking to press the pace offensively, but many opponents will look to slow the game down against them. “A number of teams are going to play us that way,” stated Runnin’ Rebels coach Dave Rice. The program is 57-48 all-time against teams that currently make up the Pac-12 Conference. UNLV is 15-20 ATS at home over the last two-plus seasons, which will make it difficult for bettors to lay the number represented on the college basketball odds page.
The Runnin’ Rebels are playing their first seven games of the season inside this venue, which could allow them to get off to a tremendous start. UNLV has won 21 of its 24 games as a home favorite of 9.5 to 12 points since 1997, while producing a 219-53 record overall when playing in Sin City.
Sports bettors will likely back the Ducks due to their 8-0 ATS mark on the road, while the Runnin’ Rebels are 0-7 ATS following a straight-up win.
