Now that Kevin Love has suffered a concussion, and Ricky Rubio is already out, this one has all the makings of a potential blowout and the 7.5 point spread set by NBA oddsmakers seems far too conservative, even if the Timberwolves are at home. Luke Ridnour is also out for the T-Wolves, only further accentuating their problems.
Chris Paul and Blake Griffin are one of the best one-two punches in the league for the Clippers. Griffin has been throwing down nasty dunk after nasty dunk and posterizing even the league’s best shot blockers, as he just made a fool out of Serge Ibaka and his 3.5 blocks per game. Still, the Clippers want to be more than just another exciting NBA league pass favorite, and they must improve their defense to make that happen. Losing Chauncey Billups was a big blow to that prospect and they will need Chris Paul to continue to play passing lanes and come up with steals.
It’s too early to say the Clippers are legitimate contenders, but a blowout win over the T-Wolves tonight would only further solidify such a statement as the Clips head towards the Playoffs.
