The Kansas City Chiefs have done two things really well thus far: rush the ball and shut down opponent’s pass games. It’ll be enough for NFL oddsmakers to list the Chiefs as 10-point favorites over the visiting New York Jets.

The Chiefs average 140.3 yards per game on the ground, while the pass offense is good for just 201.9 per game. Having two great backs along with a rushing QB has made the Chiefs a tough team to matchup with. Knile Davis and Jamaal Charles have combined or 758 yards and eight TDs, while QB Alex Smith has rushed for 162 yards and thrown for nearly 1,5000. Smith also is completing 67 percent of his passes, though his yards per reception is precariously low at 6.9.

At WR, the Chiefs have the tandem of Travis Keice and Dwayne Bowe, who both have 352 and 343 yards respectively on the season. Kelce has caught three TD passes, while Bowe has not been an end zone target. The running backs have done double duty some: Charles is also has caught 15 passes for 99 yards, while Davis has been more of a back’s back, with just nine receptions for 52 yards.

The New York Jets began the season by winning over the Oakland Raiders in Week 1. The team hasn’t won since then, and most recently was beaten badly by Buffalo last week, 43-23. It suffered a close loss to the Patriots on Oct 16, 27-25.

The Jets have been decent defensively, at least in terms of yardage allowed. Keeping teams out of the end zone hasn’t been as easy, as the Jets have allowed 24 points or more, and 30 or more four times, in its seven game skid.

The Jets have a good running game, but stopping that is the Chiefs forte. Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson and QB Geno Smith have all been consistently good, averaging 4.7, four and four yards per carry respectively. Smith has been pretty bad, though, make no mistake. He’s thrown more INTs (10) than TDs (7), been sacked 15 times, and averages just 5.9 yards per reception on a 56 percent clip. The Jets are going to need a minor miracle to end this losing streak and NFL odds don’t indicate it will happen this week.
