Kansas City had its two-game win streak snapped last time out, as it suffered a 22-17 setback to the San Francisco 49ers as 4.5-point road underdogs on Oct. 5, while going UNDER the betting total for the third time in five contests this season. The Chiefs have to put up 75 points in picking up wins at Miami and against New England, which can’t be ignored when making your Week 7 NFL predictions, but they were held scoreless in their last 26.5 minutes of play last time out. Kansas City is 1-5 SUATS as road underdogs of 3.5 to 7 points the last two-plus seasons, with no clear edge in terms of the betting total (3-3 Over/Under).
The Chiefs have a tremendous running back duo, which is important to consider when looking over the NFL betting lines, with Jamaal Charles leading the charge. He’s just 53 yards away from setting the franchise record in that statistical category, while he’s totaled 282 yards on the ground in his last four games in this AFC West rivalry. Defensively, the team will be without the services of Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry, who continues to miss time due to an ankle injury.
San Diego has won five games in a row, including a 31-28 victory over the Oakland Raiders as 7.5-point road favorites in Week 6, while winning the statistical battle in each of those affairs. The Chargers are capable of beating any team in the league due to quarterback Philip Rivers recent play, as he’s completed a 120 or higher passer rating in five consecutive games. He has posted a combined 119.8 rating during the team’s current four-game win streak in this series. San Diego is 8-1 SU and 6-3 ATS as favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 5-4 in those nine opportunities.
The Chargers have won their last six regular-season games at home, which is their longest such streak since capturing seven in a row in Southern California in 2009-10. San Diego continues to maintain balance in running the football, with newcomer Brandon Oliver accounting for 215 rushing yards in his last two games.
Sports bettors will likely play the total, as the UNDER is 12-10 in the Chiefs’ last 22 games as an underdog.
