Vikings Bills NFL Preview
Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson hasn’t ran for over 100 yards in seven consecutive games

San Francisco has been the most impressive NFL team in the early going, coming off a 27-19 win over the Detroit Lions as seven-point home favorites last week.  The 49ers are now focused on trying to win their first three games since the 1998 season.  “Playing on this team right now is really exciting,” commented 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith.  The team will not travel back to the West Coast before playing in the Big Apple in Week 4, as it will embark on Youngstown for a third consecutive year.  San Francisco is 4-0-1 ATS in September, which is important to note when making your pro football picks.

The 49ers are extremely happy with quarterback Alex Smith’s play to start the year, as he is currently possesses a passer rating of 115.9, which is the second-best mark in the league.  San Francisco has one of the more balanced offenses due to having Frank Gore in the backfield, who enters this week as the fourth-leading rusher.  There’s no doubt that Jim Harbaugh will try to get the play-action passing game going, considering Sunday’s opponent has one of the worst secondaries in football.

Minnesota came very close to making this a matchup of unbeaten teams, but it suffered a 23-20 setback to the Indianapolis Colts as three-point road favorites last week.  The Vikings have out-gained both of their opponents this year, which is important to note when looking over the pro football odds page.  Defensively, the team is dealing with some injuries at linebacker, which could be a major factor in taking on an opponent averages a league-best 167 yards on the ground.  Minnesota is 4-1-2 ATS in Week 3 over the last seven seasons.

The Vikings are glad that star running back Adrian Peterson is back in the fold after last year’s season-ending knee injury, but it’s important to note that he hasn’t gone over the century mark on the ground in seven consecutive games.  Minnesota wide receiver Percy Harvin has turned into a dynamic threat all over the field, coming off a career high 12-catch performance against the Colts.

Sports bettors will likely back the Vikings due to the home team being 5-2 against the spread in the last seven meetings in this NFC series.
