The Lions still failed to total 300 yards in the third straight game, despite it being a victory. Matt Prater even missed two extra points and the Lions had a failure on an on-sides kick. But the defense was the key, even after allowing 30.6 points per game prior to the GB contest.
“We talked about the sounds in the locker room after a victory like that, it’s unlike anything you’ll ever hear, and that’s one of the things I told them that draws guys back to coaching,” HC Jim Caldwell said.
The Lions got its sack game going against Aaron Rodgers, taking him down three times with an aggressive pass rush that handed the Packers its third straight loss. “We got a win, now we’ve got to stack them on top of each other and finish the season strong,” Jason Jones said. He recorded a sack in the game.

The Oakland Raiders are 4-5 and 2-2 on the road this season, but have dropped its past two in a row and it will be without OLB Aldon Smith who violated the league’s substance abuse policies. He had 28 tackles and 3.5 sacks in nine games (seven starts) this season. The Raiders allowed 68 points in the losses to Pittsburgh and Minnesota the last two weeks.
Detroit’s rush offense is a disaster, and Oakland has to improve its rush defense. The futility will make for an interesting combo with the Raiders allowing 458 rushing yards in its past two games. Oakland has turned the ball over six times in the past two games. It had 371 yards offense in the 30-14 loss to Minnesota last Sunday.
Raiders QB Derek Carr has thrown for at least 300 yards in the past three contest and has two or more TDs in the last four. Even so, he threw two INTs last Sunday and has four INTs on the season. Lions’ QB Matt Stafford threw for 391 yards and four TDs, while Calvin Johnson had nine receptions for 214 yards. The Lions won 28-27 in the game on Dec. 18, 2011. Johnson is listed as questionable with an ankle injury.
