The L.A. Chargers began its season with a Week 1 victory, winning 30-24 over the Indianapolis Colts. The Detroit Lions tied 27-27 with the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. The Lions will host the visiting Chargers at Noon (CT) on CBS, with the teams seeing the odds run EVEN for this affair. The over/under is set at 47 total points according to pro football oddsmakers at 5dimes.

Detroit and the Arizona Cardinals matched field goals in overtime 3-3 to end in a 27-point gridlock. Matt Stafford completed 27 of 45 passes for 385 yards and three touchdowns. He was sacked three times for 24-total-yards-lost. The Lions struggled via the rush, though. Kerryon Johnson led in attempts (16) and yardage (49), but he averaged just 3.1 yards-per-carry, and the Lions as a team was good for just 3.6 yards-per-carry. Stafford did rush three times for 22 yards, but no Lion scored a TD via the rush in the game.
Wide receiver TJ Hockenson had a huge game with six catches for 131 yards and a TD, while Danny Amendola caught another seven passes (a team-high) for 104 yards and a TD. Kenny Golladay added the other touchdown, as well as four catches for 42 yards. The Lions averaged 14.3 yards-per-catch, and six receivers caught for 12-yards or more in the game. Stafford did fumble twice, one of which that was not recovered, and Jamal Agnew fumbled for possession loss, as well.
Detroit’s defense had five sacks and six tackles-for-loss, with Devon Kennard contributing three sacks and three TFL. Tracy Walker led the team with nine tackles (all solo) and one tackle-for-loss.

The Chargers got a huge game out of dual-threat Austin Ekeler in Week 1. He rushed 12 times for 58 yards and a TD while catching six passes for a second-best 96 yards and team-best two receiving TDs. Philip Rivers threw 25 of 34 for completion for 333 yards and three TDs, though he did throw an interception and suffer four sacks for 23-yards lost. Rivers still finished with a 121.3 passer rating and a week 1 ‘W.’ Keenan Allen led all receivers with 123 yards on eight catches and he had the other receiving TD in the game.
Ekeler was responsible for three of the four scores. Hunter Henry added another 60 receiving yards on four catches, missing only one of his five targetted passes.
The Chargers defense had just two sacks and five tackles-for-loss.
Melvin Ingram had one of the sacks and the other came from Joey Bosa. Bosa finished with eight tackles (five solos), and one tackle-for-loss. He also had two quarterback hits.
