Okay, this is a good weekend to either consult tea leaves or go with a handicapper. Why? Well, the point spread for the Chargers-Patriots game is large—at most betting sites it’s 14 points but a few books have it at 3.5? Hmmmm. I’m confused.
The over/under is 46.5. That’s a big O/U. The Sunday weather at Pat’s stadium is very cold. The high will be around 25. Breezy but no snow.
How will Randy Moss do, considering his legal problems? What about San Diego’s injured running game? RB LaDainian Tomlinson is questionable.
Moss’ woes are less of a problem due to the fact that Tom Brady has a whole lot of targets, including Welker, Stallworth and Watson. New England also has a running game once again now that Laurence Moroney is definitely back.
QB’s are Brady for New England and Rivers for San Diego. The edge here is obviously to the Pats.
The Giants visit the Packers for the NFC playoff game. The line has the Packers favored by about 8, while the O/U is 39.5 points. The range is from 7 to 8 with some books offering 7.5. Also, there are some listing NY as the favorites at -3.5.
It’s NFL icon Brett Farve versus the younger Manning, Eli. The Giants and Pack have both been on a roll of late. Green Bay’s Ryan Grant ran for over two hundred yards versus Seattle. If he has another big day, then New York will be in big trouble.
If there are a lot of points scored in New England, then the Chargers are in trouble, while a large number of points in Green Bay is bad news for the Giants.
Weather in both places will be cold, which favors both home teams.
