The Cincinnati Bearcats were victorious last week over Memphis 34-21 to improve to 6-2 on the season with a 3-1 in-conference record. This week, the Bearcats will host SMU and college football oddsmakers at 5dimes find the Bearcats 6-point favorites over the visiting Mustangs.
Cincy has won three straight weeks, with the wins prior to SMU being 38-20 win over Temple and a 41-16 victory over UConn. The Bearcats have been great on offense, generating 463.3 yards per game with a pass attack that ranks 24th in the nation. Cincy has scored 34 points per game while allowing just 18, though the team has not faced an AP ranked opponent all season, nor any tough challenges to speak of.
Brendon Kay has had a great season at QB. He boasts 1,707 yards and a 72.5 percent completion ratio with 14 TDs to just five interceptions and has a QB rating of 162.3. The Bearcats have had three backs with reasonable success in Ralph Abernathy (387 yards), Hosey Williams (362), and Tion Green (278). It should be easy for the Bearcats to pick apart SMU’s defense which allows 42 points per game and is among the absolute worst in the nation.
SMU can get up and down the field via a great pass attack, but the team is 3-4 because it is just not getting stops on defense. Scoring 32.7 points per game is a great sign for the offense, but even in the victory over Temple last week, fault must be found with the defense giving up 49 points.
SMU Trends: OVER 4-0 in last 4 after allowing more than 40 points in previous week; OVER 4-0 in last 4 after scoring more than 40 points in previous week; OVER 4-0 in last 4 after allowing more than 280 passing yards in previous week.
Cincy Trends: 0-5 ATS in last 5 after allowing less than 275 total yards in previous week; 0-5 ATS in last 5 after allowing less than 170 passing yards in previous week; UNDER 8-1 in last 9 in NOV
