Houston has won three games in a row by eclipsing the century mark offensively, including a 125-80 blowout victory over the Utah Jazz as 3.5-point road underdogs Monday night, while going UNDER the total in four of their last five contests.  The Rockets have been getting out in transition, outscoring opponents by a combined 73-18 margin during their win streak in fast-break opportunities.  “That’s how we play,” commented Rockets guard James Harden.  Houston is 6-1 ATS off an upset win as an underdog this season, which can’t be ignored when making your NBA picks against the spread Wednesday night.

The Rockets have all five probable starters averaging in double figures, with Harden leading the way in scoring 26.0 points per game.  Houston is 10-14 overall on the road, including a dismal 3-10 mark when taking on Western Conference opponents.  Offensively, the team ranks second in the league in scoring 104.9 points per game, which is just below its third-place finish of 105.9 during the 2010-11 campaign.

Denver is also on a winning streak of its own, coming away with its fourth-straight victory in a 102-101 triumph over the Indiana Pacers as 5.5-point home favorites, while going OVER the total for the eighth time in 10 opportunities.  “We’re having a good month,” commented Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson.  The Nuggets have proven victorious in 11 of their 14 games this month, which is important to consider when looking over the pro basketball odds page.  Denver is 6-0 ATS when playing with a total of 210 or higher this season.

The Nuggets have compiled an impressive 18-3 home record this year, which includes a 13-1 mark versus conference rivals.  Denver is just 9-8 in its last 17 games versus Houston at the Pepsi Center, while the franchise itself is a dismal 34-57 overall in this series since 1990-91.  Forward Danilo Gallinari is coming off one of his best offensive games of the year, finishing with 27 points, which improved the team’s record to 12-0 at home when he scores 20-plus points in that situation.

Sports bettors will likely back the Nuggets due to their 5-0 ATS mark in the last five meetings in this series.
