The L.A. Clippers were defeated soundly by a young Orlando Magic team, and traveling south to South Beach to face LeBron James and the Heat is expected to leave the Clippers winless in Florida according the NBA oddsmakers at Bovada, who set the line six points in favor of Erik Spoeltra’s Heat.
The Heat are 3-2 on the season and are averaging 104.8 points per game. LeBron James has not been rebounding the ball as well, grabbing just 5.6 boards per game over the first five contests.
The Heat are getting good production from Chris Bosh, who has increased his scoring average to 19.8 points per game this season while shooting 59.1 percent from the floor. His 6.8 rebounds per game also lead the Heat, though the club remains a weak team on the boards.
Expect both teams to look to run in this game. The Heat are especially potent at American Airlines Arena, where the team has won 24 of its last 25 regular season games dating back to last season.
Doc Rivers has been very displeased with the Clippers defense which allowed the Magic to shoot 48.8 percent from the floor. Rivers knows the Clippers are gifted enough offensively to put up numbers, but his experiences in Boston lead him to know that defense is the key to winning in the playoffs most especially.
Chris Paul must incite his teammates to play better defense, since he is the leader and is a good defender. DeAndre Jordan has exerted enormous effort and brought great energy though, and while his free throw shooting may be the league’s worst, he is definitely worth the $10 million price tag the Clippers purchased him at.
