The streak is over in Golden State, but for the 24-1 Warriors the real streak is still just “one.” One championship, hoping to roll over into a two-season streak. The Dubs host the Phoenix Suns in the second game of an ESPN double deader as 12.5-point favorites.

Stephen Curry and his teammates can now just focus on playing basketball again. Curry said “The perspective of being 24-1 is a little different than undefeated. You don’t have to answer questions about it, hopefully no more creative shirts in the stands and stuff like that. We can just play basketball. It is about how we’re playing. Obviously we want to continue to win games, we have to take our game to the next level.”
For Curry, that level cannot be much higher. The reigning MVP is leading the league in scoring at 32.3 points per game while shooting 45.8 percent on threes, attempting 11.1 per night. His fellow “Splash Brother” Klay Thompson has been somewhat grounded this season, but he is still averaging 17.9 points per game on 43.5 percent three-point shooting. Draymond Green has been the jack of all trades the Warriors have thrived upon though.
The Michigan State Spartan is averaging 13.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and seven assists per game while also averaging 2.68 steals/blocks per game. Green is one of seven Warriors posting an above-average PER and he signed a max contract over the summer. Harrison Barnes has become a better scorer in his own right with 13.4 points per game this season. The Warriors are getting the most out of a nine-man rotation, and have been winning these games with an interim coach in Luke Walton.

The Suns are 11-15 and have lost two of its past three games to Dallas and Portland with a win against Minnesota sandwiched between. The Suns backcourt of Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight has been sensational but the rest of the roster is lacking. Bledsoe and Knight combine to average 42.5 points per game but no other Sun averages more than Markieff Morris’ 11.4 per game.
Morris could potentially be on the trade block and he voiced his displeasure over the Suns dealing his twin brother over the offseason. Given that Phoenix is making no real push towards anything at this moment, it would be unsurprising to see Morris elsewhere by the trade deadline in February.
