Sacramento is 11-22 on the season but scored a big 123-119 victory over visiting Portland on Tuesday night, as DeMarcus Cousins scored 35 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
The Kings had lost two straight prior to the contest, but will face Cleveland after this matchup against Orlando, offering the chance for back-to-back victories. The Kings are seven-point favorites according to NBA oddsmakers at Bovada.
The Kings’ opponent, the Orlando Magic, have the second worst record in the NBA at 10-25. The team has a point differential of -4.7 and the Magic have lost its past five contests.
The team has averaged just 86 points per game over the stretch and Nikola Vucevic, the Magic’s star center, is sidelined indefinitely with a concussion. In the loss to Portland on Wed night, Glen Davis filled in at center, and played well with 16 points and six rebounds, but the Magic needs Vucevic’s big game antics to be a threat.
The thing about being as bad as Orlando is, is that once a couple injuries take hold the talent level is too low to win games. The Magic are looking forward to a loaded 2014 draft class, but it is still unclear what direction GM Rob Hennigan will go with the pick. For the meantime, the Magic will shop Arron Afflalo most likely, as the 2-guard is currently 10th in the NBA in scoring at 21 points per game and his value is high due to the reasonability of his contract and efficient game.
