Memphis is being pegged by a lot of experts to be the surprise team of this year’s playoffs. They ran deep last year without Rudy Gay, before falling to the Thunder in 7 games, and this year with Gay, things could be different. They just received a scare to Marc Gasol, but he appears to be fine, giving the Grizzlies one of the best front courts in the league with Gay, Gasol, and Zach Randolph. Their backcourt isn’t too shabby either, and they just fortified their bench by adding gunner Gilbert Arenas.
The Grizzlies sit at 35-25, the fifth seed, and if the Playoffs began today, they would face the L.A. Clippers. The Grizzlies have the pieces to give the Clippers hell, with Chris Paul capable of locking down Mike Conley and making the point guard’s life hell as he tries to distribute to the Grizzlies’ front court.
The Wolves season ended when Ricky Rubio went down, but things remain bright in Minnesota. Kevin Love has solidified himself as possibly the best power forward in the game and if the Wolves can add another perimeter scorer, they could be trouble in the West.
