Dallas has been the most disappointing team in the NBA this season, and that’s being complimentary. Dirk Nowitzki has failed to enhance his supporting cast and Lamar Odom just waved ‘goodbye.’ Nowitzki said he had nothing to say on the matter, but for a team in need of both scoring and defense, it is a huge blow to be sure.
The Warriors have a bright future, but may have seriously erred in dealing Monta Ellis. They did it because of the emergence of Klay Thompson. Thompson has a bright future in the league, but the Warriors are going to need Andrew Bogut to stay healthy when he returns next season. Mark Jackson’s job is safe, but if the Warriors strike out on the Playoffs next season, that will likely change. They have too much talent to continually finish at the bottom of the Western Conference, and their starting five next year should be as good as anyone’s. They’ll have to add some depth and improve their defense to move from a fringe playoff team to serious contenders though, and that may take some more time.
