This game is of crucial importance to the Sixers who are battling to hold on to a playoff spot. They’re attempting to avoid their fifth straight loss, but playing the Nets should help. Now only 2 games over .500, they have lost the three game lead they held on the Hawks and the Knicks and Bucks aren’t far behind.
During this losing streak, the Sixers have scored just 83 points per game and shot 41.8% from the floor. Elton Brand and Spencer Hawes combined for only 8 points in the loss to the Celtics on Sunday night.
“We’re tied with the Knicks, and they have the tiebreaker. Definitely bad right now and we need to get out of this slump,” Brand said.
It also won’t help that eight of their final 10 games are on the road. The good news is that two of them are against the Nets. But is that really good? The Nets beat the Sixers by 7 on January 26th and has won five of seven overall between the clubs.
Deron Williams, of course, is the reason why. He scored 34 and dished out 11 assist in the Januray 25th win and he also had 18 & 10 in the victory over the Cavs on Sunday. Kris Humprhies has been solid and put up 16 & 11 rebounds against the Cavs, while Gerald Green put up a season high 32 and Anthony Morrow hit eight threes.
All of that bodes well for the Nets, but they must remember, the Sixers are in desperation mode right now.
