NO news & notes:

The Saints had a very strong Week 1 win over Tampa Bay.

Drew Brees threw 18 of 30 for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Latavious Murray rushed 15 times for 48 yards, and Alvin Kamara added 12 rushes for just 16 yards but managed the only Saints rushing touchdown. Kamara caught five passes for 51 yards and another TD via the pass, as well. Emmanuel Sanders provided the only other TD, with one of his three receptions. Jared Cook led all receivers with 80 yards and a tying-team-best five catches.

The Saints really did a number on Brady, though. He was limited to 65 percent completions with as many INTs (2) as TDs. He also suffered three sacks for a loss of 15 total yards, and he compiled a QB rating of just 42.6. It was characteristically very not like the Tom Brady we have known, though he did rush for one touchdown on his three carries, the only Tampa Bay rushing score. The Bucs rushed 26 times but managed just 86 total yards on the ground.

Beyond that, the Bucs fumbled twice, though it recovered Brady’s fumble. Even so, the NFL’s legend committed two costly picks and did fumble, and was rattled by the Saints defensive pressure the duration of the game. New Orleans led 17-7 at the half, and Janoris Jenkins took Brady’s pick for a 36-yard return and a touchdown by the defense.

Kicker Wil Lutz connected on both of his field goals and all four of his PATs. He also nailed a 51-yard attempt. The Saints really had few holes in the Week 1 victory.
