Miami’s Wade Testing the Water

With his left shoulder still healing from being dislocated, the Heats’ start guard Dwayne Wade to the court to scrimmage. Wade is trying to come back for the playoffs and has decided to eschew surgery for the time being. Wade, in his fourth season was injured in Houston on February 21. Prior to being hurt, he averaged 38.9 MPG, 28.8 PPG and 7.9 APG over 46 games. He was putting in the best offensive output of his career. The player hopes to return for a few games prior to the playoffs.

Wade worked out on the court for 90 minutes and experienced some contact with other players. He then worked out with weights and underwent physical therapy. Reports are that he was pain-free after his workout.

Miami, the reigning NBA champs, has been hampered by innumerable injuries this season, including missing their two superstars– Wade and Shaquille O’Neal. The inside-out duo has played together in only 13 games this season. Miami (39- 34), which is currently the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference, has seen its players miss a total of 171 games with 66 being missed by Wade and O’Neal.

Wade has been working hard to come back and stands to be an essential part of the playoff picture. A Miami team with a Dwayne Wade playing under 100% is better than a Miami team without any Wade at all. He hopes to play on the road later in the week against Cleveland and/or Boston.
