The Louisville Cardinals (9-4 Big East, 19- 8 overall) and Vanderbilt Commodores (8- 4 SEC- East, 24- 3 overall) are nationally ranked at twenty and seventeen respectively. The Cards are in third-place in the Big East and Vandy is in second in the SEC-East. The big deal for Louisville is that they beat both Pittsburgh (11-2 Big East, 24- 4 overall) and Marquette (9- 5 Big East, 22- 7 overall) in one week and for Vanderbilt is that over the weeks they have knocked off numerous top-25 clubs, including the then number one Florida Gators.
It’s a great time for a team to start getting hot since conference tournaments and March Madness are both around the corner. The gators find themselves in third place, behind two Big 10 teams—the number one Wisconsin Badgers (12- 1 Big 10, 26- 2 overall) and number two Ohio State Buckeyes (12- 1 Big 10, 24- 3 overall).
Who got dropped out of the Top-25? Oklahoma State (#18), Arizona #19), Kentucky (#20), Boston College (#21), USC (#22) and Indiana (#24). The only two teams to not be expelled from last week’s Top-25 numbers 18 to 25 were the Alabama Crimson Tide (6- 6 SEC West, 19- 7 overall) and West Virginia Mountaineers (8- 5 Big East, 20-6 overall). The Crimson Tide stayed at 25 and the Mountaineers moved up a spot to number 22.
The Virginia Cavaliers (9- 3 ACC, 19- 7 overall), unranked last week, moved into the 23rd spot. Over the last few weeks they beat #22 Maryland, #17 Clemson and #10 Duke. The Cavs, Tide and Mountain Men are three teams that have proven to be highly competitive.
