Sacramento Kings vs. Denver Nuggets
Tip off: 9:05 PM EST
Spread: DEN -11.5
Total: 206
M/L: DEN -900, SAC +650
Things have been predictably bad in Sacramento, but the team discord and Tyreke Evans’ and DeMarcus Cousins’ complaints over Paul Westphal’s offense has left the Kings in disarray, further weakening a team that was already not expected to make the playoffs. Jimmer Fredette has been a nice spark off the bench, and is putting up 10.2 points per game in 25 minutes a night, but the Kings need more from one time stud Tyreke Evans, who put up 20-5-5 as a rookie, while DeMarcus Cousins is shooting 31% from the floor and turning it over 2.6 times per game.
Denver got off to a hot start and are showing they are a legit force even without Carmelo Anthony. They’ve done so with six players averaging double figures, led by Ty Lawson’s 18.2 per game. Andre Miller has returned to Denver with brilliance, and everyone is having a good season, save for perhaps the struggling Rudy Fernandez. Starting small forward Danilo Gallinari must improve his shot selection, but he looks to be a staple of the Nuggets offensive attack for the forseeable future, and should elevate his scoring beyond the 15 ppg it is at now.

Key Matchup:
Tyreke Evans vs. Ty Lawson
Lawson has been one of the best all around statistical players in the league this season, and to those who had been charting the youngster’s progress, it isn’t much of a surprise. While Lawson has continued his ascent towards greatness, Tyreke Evans has continued to fall off from the once great play he exhibited three seasons ago as a rookie. Look for the 5’11” Lawson to work his speed advantage over the 6’6″ Evans. Evans is a good defender, so Lawson won’t abuse him off the dribble, but few have had much success at preventing Lawson’s quick release and keeping him out of the paint where he is so capable of creating for himself and his teammates.
