The Vanderbilt Commodores have won their last four home games against the top-ranked team in the country

Kentucky continued its season-best 16-game win streak with an impressive 78-58 win over the Florida Gators as nine-point home favorites, while going “under” the total for the fourth time in five games.  The Wildcats are just 3-7 in their last 10 trips inside Memorial Gymnasium, as the venue will host ESPN College Game Day on Saturday.  Four players are averaging in double-figures this season, with freshman center Anthony Davis leading the way in scoring 14.0 points per game.  Kentucky is 2-3 ATS as a road favorite of 3.5 to 6 points the last two-plus seasons.

The Wildcats have been absolutely brilliant over the past five games, averaging 49.6 points per game.  Kentucky has won five-straight road games for the first time since the 2005 campaign.  The program has started off Southeastern Conference action with a 10-0 record for the 13th time, while posting a 161-25 all-time mark when playing as the top-ranked team in the country.  The Wildcats are currently holding their opponents to 35.8 percent from the field, which is the lowest in the country.

Vanderbilt is 7-14 all-time against top-ranked teams in the country and 6-6 in such games played in Nashville.  The Commodores have won their last four games versus such opponents at home.  “We’ve got to win this one,” commented Commodores junior guard John Jenkins.  He is currently the leading scorer in all games among SEC players at 19.7 points per game.  The Hendersonville, TN, native has scored in double-digits in 57 consecutive games.  Vanderbilt is 4-7 ATS at home this year.

The Commodores starting lineup has amassed 396 career starts between the five of them, sporting three players that have scored at least 1,000 points.  Vanderbilt’s bench has been outscored by its opponent by an average of 6.0 points per game this season.  Despite the recent success against No. 1 teams, it’s still important to note that the squad is 1-4 against ranked opponents this year.  During the Kevin Stallings era, the program is 32-55 versus ranked foes.

Bettors will likely back the Commodores due to the home team being 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings, while the Wildcats are 10-14 ATS on the season.
