This elimination game shouldn’t be too much of a mystery, and I’m not suggesting the Magic roll over and die, but after the overtime game loss in game 4, it should be clear that even at their very best, they come up a little short, just like Glen Davis’ baseline jumper did. Davis finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds, after averaging 18 points per game over the first three games of the series. He is a big part of why Orlando has been able to compete with a team that they are superiorly outmatched by without Dwight Howard’s dominance in the middle.
Stan Van Gundy could potentially be coaching his last game for the Magic. He’s won a lot of games, and got to the Finals, but coaches have lives in this business, and they don’t spend their entire career with one franchise. Many have speculated that Brian Shaw could be a potential replacement.
Roy Hibbert finally got going after being horrible all series. He hit 5 of his 7 shots and finished with a double double. The main culprit for the Pacers success though was one time All-Star David West, who put up 26 points while grabbing 12 rebounds and shooting 23 field goals. He was active, and overall just too much for Ryan Anderson, as he drained baseline jumpers and finished nicely off pick n rolls with Danny Granger. Granger also had a big game, going 9 of 20 from the floor to score 21, while grabbing 7 rebounds. He is the closest thing Indiana has to a superstar, so he must play like one and remain aggressive. He is too good to let a player like Hedo Turkoglu contain him.
