Brett Favre said yesterday that this year’s Packer’s team is the most talented he’s ever seen. That has folks buzzing. But the real story is not Favre’s comment on “talent. It’s his later statements.
Favre said to reporters, “My arm feels great. The rest of my body feels like I’ve been playing for 16 years. I probably walk around and run around like an old man. My ankles and my feet and hips all bother me. I can still play.
Consider that statement! Then consider this— “I don’t anticipate feeling better. But by taking maybe mornings off and being careful to a certain extent, it will prolong my playing.
Okay—the guy’s arm works but the rest of his body is a broken mess. He’s not playing chess; he’s playing football. He’s going to get hammered in the pocket because he can’t run away and he has an inexperienced line.
What’s the over under on games missed by Farve this season? I’m thinking four at the very least. Probably a lot more. Some “Greats know when to retire. Others have to learn the hard way.
