Miami has won four of its last five games and enters Cameron Indoor Stadium on a three-game win streak, which includes a 90-86 overtime win over the Maryland Terrapins as 10.5-point home favorites last time out. The Hurricanes will be aiming to win four straight conference games for the first time since Feb. 9-23, 2008. “We’re going to Cameron Indoor, that’s going to be an incredible road test,” stated Hurricanes center Reggie Johnson. Miami is 4-3 ATS on the road this season.
The Hurricanes are 2-15 all-time versus the Blue Devils, with neither of those wins coming inside this afternoon’s venue. Miami is 42-124 against ranked teams in program history, which includes a 13-27 mark versus ACC opponents in that situation since joining the league during the 2004-05 campaign. All seven of the Hurricanes’ losses have come against schools with an RPI of 62 or better.
Duke has won three consecutive games since suffering a 76-73 loss to the Florida State Seminoles as 10.5-point home favorites, returning home after a 75-60 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies as five-point road favorites. “Our players felt good after the game about our effort,” stated Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski. The Blue Devils are looking to top the 20-win mark for the 16th consecutive season, as they’ve put together a 7-0 record against the Hurricanes at home. Duke is 0-3 ATS as a home favorite of 9.5 to 12 points this season.
The Blue Devils have scored 80 or more points in 12 of their 17 games versus the Hurricanes, with three of the last five victories coming by 10 points or less. Duke is one of seven teams in college basketball to have five or more players averaging 10 or more points per game. Offensively, the team is averaging 80.0 points per game, which ranks 11th nationally despite facing seven teams that rank in the top 50 in scoring defense. Ryan Kelly is the player to watch on the perimeter, leading the conference in three-point shooting percentage, hitting 47.2 percent of his shots from beyond the arc.
Bettors will likely back the Hurricanes due to their 4-0-1 ATS mark when playing at Duke, while the Blue Devils are 1-5 ATS following a spread victory.
