Oklahoma is a heavy favorite at home against TCU Monday night in Big 12 action.

The 15-7 Oklahoma Sooners are coming off their biggest win of the season as they upset then #5 Kansas 72-66 Saturday at home. The Sooners are 6-4 in conference and tied for fourth in the Big 12 with Iowa St and Baylor. The Sooners host last place TCU Monday night and can’t afford to lost focus. TCU is 10-13 overall and 1-9 in conference in their first year in the Big 12. However, the only Big 12 win for the Frogs came last week at home against Kansas 62-55.

Oklahoma leads the series 11-1 against TCU, including 5-0 in Norman. The teams haven’t played since 2007. The only TCU win in the series came in 1986, and Oklahoma has won 3 straight since then.  The two teams will close out the regular season in Fort Worth March 9.

TCU is coached by Trent Johnson. The Horned Frogs have losses at home to SMU, Houston, Texas Tech, Kansas St, Iowa St, Baylor, and West Virginia Saturday 63-50, a loss to Northwestern in a tournament in South Padre Island, Texas, and road losses at Tulsa, Oklahoma St, Baylor, West Virginia, and Texas .  The Horned Frogs have key wins over UAB at South Padre, Navy, and at Rice. TCU is 6-12 ATS and the total is 4-8 this season.

TCU is being outscored 59-54 this season. The Horned Frogs are #345 in scoring out of 347 teams, but #24 in points allowed. TCU is shooting 40.6% from the field and 30.0% from 3 point range. TCU is #294 or worse in both categories.  The Horned Frogs are #343 in free throw shooting making just 59.1% from the line. TCU averages 32.6 rebounds and allow 30 per game. Frog opponents are shooting 41.9% from the field and 32.9% from 3 point range. The Horned Frogs average 10 assists, 5 steals, 3 blocks, and 14 turnovers per game.

Guard Kyan Anderson averages 11.3 points, 3.1 assists, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game. Guard Garlon Green averages 10.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. Amric Fields is out for the season with a knee injury. He averaged 7.3 points and 2.7 rebounds a game, but only played in 3 games. Forward Adrick McKinney averages 8.2 points, and 6.9 rebounds per game. Forward Devonta Abron averages 6.3 points, 5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game. Guard Jarvis Ray is out indefinitely with a foot injury. He averaged 6.2 points. Connell Crossland averages 6.1 points, and 5.9 rebounds per game. Nate Butler Lind, Charles Hill, Jr., and Clyde Smith III make up the rest of the rotation. Center Aaron Durley is out for the season with a knee injury but hasn’t played a game this season. TCU is very small with no player over 6′-8″ on the roster.

Oklahoma is coached by Lon Kruger. The Sooners have losses to Gonzaga in a tournament in Orlando, at Arkansas, Kansas St, and Kansas, and Iowa St and at home to Stephen F. Austin and Kansas St. Oklahoma has wins over UTEP and West Virginia in Orlando, at Oral Roberts, Texas A&M in Oklahoma City, and at home against Ohio. The Sooners have conference wins at West Virginia, and Baylor and at home against Oklahoma St, Texas Tech and Texas. The game in Orlando against West Virginia didn’t count as a conference game because they had both been invited to the tournament before WVU joined the Big 12 this season from the Big East. . Oklahoma is 11-7 ATS and the total is 9-6 this season.

Oklahoma is outscoring teams 68-64 this season. The Sooners are shooting 42.6% from the field and 31.2% from 3 point range. Oklahoma makes 72.9% of their free throws.. The Sooners average 37.2 rebounds and give up 31.4. OU opponents are shooting 41.1% from the field and 31% from 3 point range. The Sooners average 12 assists, 7 steals, 3 blocks, and 13 turnovers.

Forward Amath M’Baye averages 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds. Guard Buddy Hield averages 8.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.2 steals. Cameron Clark averages 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. Je’Lon Hornbeak, Andrew Fitzgerald, Isaiah Cousins and Sam Grooms make up the rest of the rotation. Oklahoma has only 3 players 6′-8″ and over on the roster.

TCU is 1-4 ATS after failing to cover, 1-5 after a straight up win, in Monday games, and after a double digit home loss. 1-6 overall, and in Big 12 games.

Oklahoma is 8-2 ATS in home games, 2-5 overall, and against Big 12 teams, and 3-9 against teams with winning records.

Oklahoma is clearly the better team here, but this seems like a sandwich game between the big win over Kansas and the trip to Stillwater Saturday to face Bedlam rival Oklahoma St. I think Oklahoma wins, but TCU keeps it within the huge number with their slow down offense.

Our college basketball handicappers are red hot this season. Don’t miss out on any more winners this season.
