Cincinnati is set to play its first true road game of the year, as it comes off a 49-17 win over Fordham as 40-point home favorites. The Bearcats are off to their best start since the 2009 team opened up with 12 straight wins. Despite holding a 4-2 lead in this particular series, it’s important to note that Saturday’s visitor has dropped the last two meetings, including a 23-16 setback as 4.5-point underdogs on Dec. 29, 2001. Cincinnati is 4-0 ATS in its last four games against Mid-American Conference opponents.
The Bearcats current eight-game win streak is tied for the third longest active streak in major college football. Cincinnati’s defense ranks 10th nationally in allowing just 14.4 points per game, while the offense has surpassed 425 yards in each of the season’s first five games. Entering the week, the team leads the Big East Conference in averaging 220.6 rushing yards and 465.4 total yards per game. Quarterback Munchie Legaux is certainly the player to watch offensively, averaging 265 passing yards and throwing seven touchdowns in the last three games.
Toledo will face its stiffest challenge of the season, as the offense looks to continue its strong play, averaging 44 points and 503 yards of total offense in the last four games. The Rockets have won six straight games since a season-opening loss to the Arizona Wildcats, as they look to improve upon their 4-1 mark at home when playing a ranked opponent. Toledo is 5-2 ATS in its last seven October games, while the OVER has gone 4-1 in that situation.
The Rockets will look to get wide receiver Bernard Reedy the football, as he caught 11 passes for a school record 237 receiving yards in a 52-47 win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles as 15-point road favorites last week. Toledo quarterback Terrance Owens also threw for a career-best 401 yards. This week’s foe will be the third-highest ranked team ever to face the program inside the Glass Bowl.
Sports bettors will likely back the Bearcats due to their 11-0 straight-up record against MAC competition, while the Rockets are 0-3 ATS versus Big East opponents.
