The Kansas State Wildcats have a tremendous home record against non-conference opponents

UTEP has alternated wins and losses over its first three games, as it comes off a 42-24 victory over New Mexico State as 10.5-point home favorites on Sept. 13, while going OVER the betting total for the first time this season.  After averaging 225 rushing yards in their first three games of the 2013 campaign, the program has upped its production to 314.0, which can’t be ignored when making your Week 5 college football picks.  UTEP is 0-2 SU and 2-0 ATS versus Big 12 Conference opponents the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER cashing in both opportunities.

The Miners are 1-31 SU all-time against ranked opponents, which is important to consider when looking over the college football odds page.  UTEP has turned the ball over just once during the first three games, which is very impressive when you consider it had 59 rushing attempts last time out.  During the Sean Kugler era, the school has rushed 50-plus times in five games, which matches that type of number that it had in nine previous campaigns under Mike Price.

Kansas State is coming off a hard-fought six-point loss to fifth-ranked Auburn, but it has compiled a dominating 65-5 SU record in non-conference home games under head coach Bill Snyder.  The Wildcats have also won 30 of their 38 games in Manhattan since naming the stadium in Snyder’s honor.  Since 1990, the team has protected a halftime lead in 166 of its 171 games when on top after 30 minutes of action.  Kansas State is 18-3 SU and 12-8-1 ATS as favorites the last two-plus seasons.

The Wildcats rank first in the Big 12 and 11th nationally in fewest penalties, while they’ve been successful on 14-of-17 red zone chances.  Kansas State has gone 22-of-42 on third downs to rank second in the conference in that important statistical category, which is a testament to how consistent Jake Waters has been under center.

Sports bettors will likely back the Wildcats due to the Miners being 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games.
