South Carolina is 3-2 ATS as road favorites since 2011

South Carolina will step out of conference action for the second time this season, as it looks to extend its 17-game winning streak against non-conference opponents during the regular season.  Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier owns a 2-0 all-time record in this series, which is important to consider when making your college football expert picks in Week 5.  Offensively, the team has generated 1,439 yards, which is the high water mark for the school over such a period of time since 1962.  South Carolina is 5-0 SU and 3-2 ATS as road favorites over the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 3-2 in that situation.

The Gamecocks are led offensively by quarterback Connor Shaw, who has compiled a 19-4 record during his time in Columbia.  He ranks among leaders in the Southeastern Conference in numerous categories, including 12th in rushing and seventh in passing.  South Carolina should feed the ball to running back Mike Davis, who is fourth in the conference and 21st in the country in rushing at 113.7 yards per contest—averaging 7.6 yards per carry.

UCF is off to its best start since 1988, as it prepares to host its first ranked school since 2009, which is important to consider when looking over the college football odds page.  The Knights have scored at least 30 points in their first three games of a season for the first time in program history.  The program has gone 2-14 versus SEC teams, but it has gone 6-5 ATS in that situation since 1992.

The Knicks have the second-fewest amount of seniors in the country—ranking only behind the Gamecocks in that particular category.  UCF will need a huge game by quarterback Blake Bortels, who ranks fifth in the country with a 199.5 passer efficiency rating, while sitting seventh in averaging 16.3 yards per completing.  He has thrown a touchdown pass in 11 consecutive games.  On the other side of the ball, the program ranks 14th in scoring defense and 21st in total defense.

Sports bettors will likely back the Gamecocks due to their 8-3 ATS mark versus winning teams.
