BYU has won five games in a row, including a 37-20 victory over the Boise State Broncos as 6.5-point home favorites on Oct. 25, while winning the statistical battle for the eight time to start the 2013 campaign. The Cougars rank 14th nationally in averaging 258.8 yards per game on the ground, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college football odds page, but the Badgers are four spots ahead of them in that category. Offensively, the team is capable of throwing the football, especially to wide receiver Cody Hoffman who holds the school record with 232 receptions. BYU is 5-4 SU and 9-0 ATS as an underdog the last two-plus seasons.
The Cougars have always been tough defensively under head coach Bronco Mendenhall, which can’t be ignored when making your college football expert picks, as the stop unit has 11 players with 30 or more tackles. BYU is led on that side of the football by linebacker Kyle Van Noy, who has the second-most sacks nationally among active players. The team is outscoring opponents by an average of 11.2 points per game.
Wisconsin has won and covered the spread in its last three games, including a 28-9 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes as nine-point road favorites last Saturday, while going UNDER the betting total for the third time in four contests. The Badgers will be playing their first game at Camp Randall Stadium in 28 days, as they look to win their 29th consecutive game at this venue against a non-conference opponent. The program has started 5-0 at home the previous three seasons. Wisconsin is 6-2 SU and 4-4 ATS in November since 2011.
The Badgers and Cougars are the only FBS teams to have two players averaging at least 100.0 rushing yards per game, which leads many to believe this matchup will be decided in the trenches. Wisconsin’s defense has allowed opponents to enter the red zone just 21 times this season—surrendering a touchdown on just eight of those trips. Each of the school’s last 10 wins have come by a margin of at least 19 points.
Sports bettors will likely back the Cougars due to their 13-5 ATS mark in their last 18 road games.
