The UCF Knights have allowed the fewest points nationally at home this year

Tulsa goes out on the road to take on the defending Conference USA champions from the East Division, looking for its second consecutive win in the series, tallying 49-19 victory as 22.5-point home favorites on Oct. 16, 2008.  The Golden Hurricane are coming off a dominating 38-7 win over the SMU Mustangs, winning the total yardage battle by a triple-digit margin for the third consecutive game.  “Obviously I’m very proud,” commented Tulsa first-year coach Bill Blankenship.  “That was a great win for our program.”  Tulsa is 4-0 ATS when the line is between a field goal on both sides over the last two-plus years.

The Golden Hurricane are an impressive 36-15 in Conference-USA during the regular season and 16-6 when taking on Eastern foes.  In four league games, Tulsa has scored over 30 points in each of those games with an average winning margin in those contests of 23.5 points.  Senior quarterback G.J. Kinne is the leader of the team, going over the 9,000-yard plateau this year in total yards, ranking third in school history with 8,277 passing yards.  On the defensive end, since giving up 246 rushing yards for a 5.3-yard average in the season opener against Oklahoma, the unit has allowed just 109 yards per game and a 2.79 per carry average.

UCF snapped its two-game losing streak by picking up a 41-0 win over the Memphis Tigers as 29.5-point home favorites, while the ‘under’ is now 5-2 in that span.  Quarterback Jeff Godfrey responded after his starting spot was being threatened, throwing for 200 yards through the air and gaining 97 yards on the ground.  “Coach told me to stop trying to force things and do things that I did last year,” commented Godfrey.  He will likely need to generate points, as the winning team in the last four series meetings has scored at least 44 points and also generated more rushing yards.  UCF is 16-7 ATS as a favorite the last two-plus years.

The Knights are 2-2 all-time on Thursday nights and will rely heavily on their home-field advantage inside Bright House Networks Stadium.  UCF leads the country with just nine points allowed at home this year.  The program also relies heavily on winning the time-of-possession battle, ranking second in the country behind the Texas Longhorns in that category.

Bettors will likely back the Golden Hurricane due to being 8-1 ATS on the road, while the Knights are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall.
