Fresno State is 9-0 on the season and will look to win its tenth straight with a victory over New Mexico this Saturday. The Bulldogs are heavy 31.5 point favorites at home according to college football oddsmakers at Bovada, and the total is set high at 65 points to account for Fresno’s 7th ranked scoring offense.
The Bulldogs generate 44.3 points per game on the heels of a pass offense that generates 384 yards per game. Derek Carr has had a great season with 3,241 yards and a 69.5 percent completion ratio. The stud QB has 32 TD passes on the season and just four interceptions and six Fresno receivers have at least 200 yards on the season. The Bulldogs have had success in the backfield, as well, as Josh Quezada and Marteze Waller both have posted five-plus yards per carry on the season.
New Mexico has relied almost exclusively on the rush this season. The Lobos rank 2nd in the nation in rush yardage per game (323.8) and the offense generates 34.8 points per game.
The Lobos have not been good defensively, though, and allow 39.9 points per game. Even Colorado State was able to put up 66 points on the Lobos who have not held an opponent under 35 since week 1.
Kasey Carrier has rushed for 1,122 yards on the season with nine TDs and QB Cole Gautsche is the team’s second-leading rusher with 777 rushing yards on the season. Gautsche hasn’t been accurate with the pass (44 percent), though.
